Pleura or Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

Have you ever heard of the human body part known as pleura? Many of us are not aware about this part of our body and thus are also not aware of the fact that some serious diseases like pleura mesothelioma can occur in such part of the body. What is pleura in the first place? What is pleural mesothelioma? These are the things that we should know so that we can be made aware of the things that are important for us to know. Such disease is fatal and thus very much dangerous to us and we cannot afford to just let it get us just because we don’t know a thing about it.

Pleura is the term used to refer to the membrane that covers your lungs and also the chest cavity. Thus, pleura cancer or mesothelioma is a disease that affects a part of your lungs and your chest. It is of course caused by too much exposure to asbestos. Of all the types of mesothelioma, this type seems to be the common one because of all cases of diagnosed mesothelioma, the one that affects pleura constitutes 75% of it. Therefore, it makes up the most of the diagnosed cases. Shortness of breathing and chest pains are the most common symptoms of pleural mesothelioma

Although it seems that this type of cancerous or malignant disease is just common, treating it will be very difficult. Treatment methods for this type of disease might include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. What matters is that we know something about this disease so that we can make the proper moves when we are to deal with it.
