Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma

6 July 2010 7 Comments

Here is another form of mesothelioma that is worth knowing. This type is termed as Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma. When we speak of sarcomatoid mesothelioma, we are actually referring to that type of mesothelioma that is classified by the shape and appearance of the cancer cells, which typically appear to be somewhat oval and irregular; the nucleus usually isn’t as visible as other types of mesothelioma, such as epithelial mesothelioma. In this kind, the shape and irregular pattern of the cells have given the disease its name. But even with this said, we cannot take this disease very lightly because we know for fact that it is still a form of a deadly cancerous disease.

Just like any other kind of disease, there are symptoms that can serve as your guide in dealing with this kind of mesothelioma. The symptoms actually depend on the location of the Sarcomatoid cells and the progression of the disease. If the cells are located in the pleura, a patient may experience shortness of breath, a persistent cough, chest or back pressure or pain, wheezing or difficulty breathing, fever or night sweats, fatigue, weight loss. If the cells are on the peritoneum, you may experience some or all of these symptoms: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, pressure or pain in the area, intestinal blockage, fever or night sweats, or fatigue.

It is important that we be vigilant or observant for these symptoms. If they occur in you or to other persons that you know, it will serve you best to have your self or that person subjected to check up so that you will know if you are already attacked by this disease.
