Breathing is one of the processes that are vital for us humans. It allows us to take in clean air and at the same time release air from our body that has been used in the form of carbon dioxide. If you have healthy breathing process, you will find it very easy to live your life. But what if you have some sort of disease like smoking emphysema or simple emphysema? How will you say that you have healthy breathing process? In the first place, what is all about this particular illness? How does it affect the breathing of a person? Emphysema is a disease that is mainly thought to be associated with the manifestation of shortness of breathing. As we all know of it, it is only when a person is too exhausted that he or she experiences shortness of breathing. Emphysema is a long-term, progressive disease of the lung that primarily causes shortness of breath. In people with emphysema, the tissues necessary to support the physical shape and function of the lungs are destroyed. Emphysema is said to be an obstructive lung disease because it destroys the tissues of the primary organ used for breathing-lungs. One of the major causes of this disease today is said to be excessive smoking.

Be aware that emphysema treatment can include proper rehabilitation at it can also be treated by supporting the breathing with anticholinergics, bronchodilators, steroid medication (inhaled or oral), effective body positioning (High Fowlers), and supplemental oxygen as required. Most of all let us not forget that having a healthy lifestyle will help us a lot.
